It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
